We all know Spring Break time … from the middle of March to the beginning of April. I feel like you cannot escape Spring Break; whether it is photos popping up on your friends Facebook pages of their recent travels, hearing from your sister that half her office is still out on vacation or walking around Minnesota in the beginning of April and realizing that people are ridiculously tan for this time of year. All of this got me, a pale non-vacationer, thinking about how necessary i... Read more...

I’ve had several meetings in the last few weeks with former customers who chose to use internal resources to plan their last meeting.  Faced with an uncertain economy and memories of recent layoffs, they made the decision to reduce their meeting budgets and ask internal employees to plan their meeting. ... What a beautiful day … 64 degrees and sunny! We’ve all been waiting for this day; no scraping snow off your car, no dodging puddle while snow is melting, and a chance to shed our heavy winter coats. It seemed like a fresh new beginning overnight. Coming into my office the next day, I was struck with the fact that my own desk needed a new beginning, too. I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the post-it notes, miscellaneous to-do lists and magazines waiting to be read. While my de... Read more...

What turned me on to Equinox Creative? Communication. It all started several months ago when I began my search for an internship for the spring semester of my senior year. As a Communications Studies major, I had a fairly broad spectrum of types of companies I wanted to look at and I began to narrow down my search. I knew I wanted to work somewhere that truly valued communication and understood the importance of not only attempting to get a message across, but doing it in a way that meanin... Read more...

I recently ran the St. Jude Memphis Marathon with my oldest son Sean.  It was my first marathon and Sean’s second.  Since I am a very slow runner, our stated goal was 5:45:00, but we were looking for a 5:30:00 pace.  Before the race, I did a lot of reading, and developed what I thought was a good training program.  My wife, who has run 13 marathons, offered to develop my training schedule; however, I opted to use my timetable. The race went according t... A common question in January is, “Why do you/we live in Minnesota?  It’s way too cold there.” I’ll even admit that I’ve asked myself that question while getting into a cold car at -10°.  Day after day of cold and gloom can wear you down. As I was driving to work recently, I was reminded why I live here.  It was the second day of a slight January thaw and there was a slight ice fog in the air.  For those of you from warmer climates, an ice fog occu...
